AMZ Holdings Plc is a property development group who have assembled 27 acres of beachfront property on the island of Penghu, Taiwan. The property is the largest private land site on the island, and has been zoned and approved for an International Tourist Hotel building permit, a process which took many years. Taiwan has now approved gaming legislation only for the offshore islands, with Penghu now seeking to attract major international operators. The licence must form part of the facilities of an International Tourist Hotel, and the company will now seek to maximise this asset for its’ shareholders. The company is registered in the Isle of Man, and listed on the London AIM market. |

Taiwan Cabinet Backs Penghu Vote On Casinos 16 June 2009. Taiwan has taken a further step towards introducing gambling on its offshore islands after the Cabinet approved a plan for the Penghu group of islands to hold a referendum on allowing casino operations. After receiving Cabinet approval, advocates of casino introduction have six months to secure a minimum of 3523 signatures, or 5 percent of the electorate in the last county commissioner election in 2005, for a referendum petition that will be submitted to the Penghu Election Commission.
The commission will evaluate the referendum petition and set the date of the referendum, which is expected to be August this year.
Cabinet spokesman Su Jun-pin also recently confirmed that landing visas for Chinese visitors, currently available in Jinmen and Matsu, could soon also be extended to Chinese visitors travelling to Penghu. Landing visas would boost tourism in Penghu.
In the meantime the government is also beginning its own preparations for a package of accompanying measures to fill in the missing elements of the broader enabling legislation passed in January.
